Why a swim spa?

When trying to decide between a swim spa and a pool, many factors need to be taken into consideration as this can be an expensive investment. If you have never owned a pool before, you may be unaware of the hidden costs that come with owning one, and as a result can pay dearly for it. Take a look at this article to understand how a swim spa may be a better investment than a pool.

Ever owned a pool, or know someone who does? The first thing that will come to mind is the large amount of maintenance that regularly needs to be taken care of, specifically cleaning. Vacuuming, backwashing, chemical maintenance and landscaping are just some of the activities that you will need to perform with a pool, and some of these of a regular basis. Sure there are some automatic solutions (creepy crawlers), but they can’t clean 100% of the pool and need to be run constantly, which can increase your electricity bill. Along with the labour involved with each of these activities, there is a cost that is usually attached to each one, whether it’s purchasing pool equipment or the ever-increasing electricity bills. Why would you spend your summer weekends labouring over a pool instead of enjoying it? Speaking of the summer, using a pool is a seasonal activity which means that you will only be able to use it approximately 6 out of the 12 months in a year! All that money that you invested, only to sit dormant for 6 months while you wait for the spring to come.

Now for the swim spa, to start off a swim spa is a smaller body of water, and therefore the amount of time and money that you will need to invest is much less than that of a pool. The filtration system of a swim spa is much better than that of a pool, and comes equipped with an ozone generator to further reduce the chemicals needed by up to 80%! The heating bill drops as well, and costs approximately 5 times less energy to heat up a swim spa to a much higher temperature than that of a pool. Swim spas can also filter the water at much quicker speeds and for smaller intervals, which is known as “auto-cleaning”. By setting your St. Lawrence Swim Spa to “continuous filtration” mode, your spa will cycle the water through its filters every 15 minutes, which helps to remove any debris or bacteria left behind. What about larger objects like leaves or sticks? This isn’t a problem like it would be for a pool because your swim spa comes with a hard-top cover that protects it from the elements while keeping your water crystal clean. This also means that you can keep your swim spa at 104F every day of the year, even during the harsh winter months when your pool would be useless.

By looking at all the costs involved, a swim spa is a much better investment if you wish to save money and your time. It doesn’t seem right to spend £30 000 on a pool and have to regularly use your time and resources when you could enjoy a St. Lawrence Swim Spa for a fraction of the price.
