§ 01 · THE THUNDER BAY

Twin Captain's chairs,
one deep lounger,
built for the long soak.

Two sculpted Captain's chairs with integrated armrests face each other across the main well, a deep no-float lounger runs along one side, and the remaining seats wrap around the footwell — six adults without anyone being in anyone's way. The contours under your thighs and across your shoulders hold you in the water, which matters more than it sounds: the moment the pumps come on, a flat lounger will quietly lift you out of your seat. Ours doesn't. 44 adjustable hydro-massage jets on a WhiteWater™ delivery system, fed by two independent 5HP pumps, let you dial in real pressure on every seat at once.

A built-in aromatherapy canister releases your choice of soothing scents on a warm air draw, while two slow-rise waterproof Bluetooth speakers with built-in amplifiers carry the evening. Multi-coloured Aurora™ LED lighting shifts the mood: perimeter lights along the waterline, large underwater LEDs, and an LED-backlit cascading waterfall.

The Thunder Bay ships with 100 ft² of filtration — two 50 ft² Microban Glacier cartridges — paired with a built-in ozone generator to keep water crystal clear without hassle. Built from durable acrylic, the shell is made to withstand years of British weather, from winter frosts to the heat of summer. A proper flagship: seating, hydrotherapy and finish all dialled up a level.

§ 02 · Engineered In Detail

Every feature earning its place.

No gimmicks. The Thunder Bay is built around the things that genuinely make a six-seater worth owning — proper hydrotherapy across every seat, considered lighting, clean water, and heat that stays exactly where it should.

01 · HYDROTHERAPY
44jets
Dual-Pump Hydrotherapy

44 adjustable hydro-massage jets on a WhiteWater™ Jet Delivery System, powered by two independent 5HP pumps. Oversized 2.5" plumbing and tailored air venturi controls let you run every seat at full pressure simultaneously — not the usual compromise where one cluster weakens when another fires.

02 · SANITATION
AO3P
Mountain Pure™ UV + Ozone

Mountain Pure™ sanitation combines ozone and UV-C to neutralise bacteria without over-chlorinating the water. The cleanest water with the fewest chemicals — kinder on skin and eyes, easier on the filters.

03 · FILTRATION
100ft²
Microban Glacier

The Thunder Bay ships with 100 ft² of filtration — two 50 ft² Microban Glacier cartridges installed. Microban-infused media inhibits bacterial growth on the filter itself for the life of the cartridge, and water is filtered before reaching critical components to reduce the risk of damage.

04 · LIGHTING
colours
Aurora™ LED System

Full multi-zone control: perimeter waterline lights, large underwater LEDs, and an LED-backlit cascading waterfall. Shift the mood from soak to swim to sleep with the touch of a button.

05 · HEAT RETENTION
3kW
Balboa Smart Heating

3kW Balboa heater with smart sensors — shuts off within half a degree of your target. Triple-layer insulation with infra-red reflection and thermal transfer blocks on shell, cabinet and base.

06 · CONTROLS
BP
Balboa BP Controls

An extra-large overlay pad adjusts jets, pumps and temperature with a single touch. Reliable, responsive, and easy to use wet-handed — the control system trusted across the spa industry for decades.

07 · AUDIO
2×
Bluetooth Speakers

Two slow-rise waterproof retractable speakers with built-in high-fidelity amplifiers deliver clear acoustics at volume — pair your phone from anywhere in the garden.

08 · ENERGY
72hr
ThermalSprings™

Our Heat Reclamation System prevents heat loss and recycles sanitised water. High-density closed-cell foam in the shell captures motor waste heat — warming the water, not the outside air.

§ 03 · The Finish

Why we only
do one colour.

Most hot tub brands offer four or five shell colours. We offer one — a white shell with an understated marbling through it, paired with a dark brown cabinet that matches the cover. It isn't a compromise. It's the answer we arrived at after years of watching owners live with their spas.

01

No weekly wipe-down.

Calcium builds up at the waterline on every hot tub — that's just hot water chemistry. On dark shells, you see it. You end up wiping the tub down on a regular basis to keep it looking respectable. On our marbled white, the calcium is still there, but it disappears into the finish. Most people buy a hot tub to take away their stress, not to give themselves a part-time job wiping it down. That's the main reason we landed on white.

02

The lighting comes alive at night.

The Aurora™ LED package — perimeter lights, large underwater LEDs, and the LED-backlit cascading waterfall — was designed to wash colour across the shell. A white marbled interior picks up and carries every hue. On a dark shell, the lights just sit there. On this one, they paint the whole tub.

03

Built to sit with garden furniture.

The dark brown cabinet is colour-matched to the cover, and the pairing is designed to sit naturally alongside rattan — the most common garden furniture choice in a British back garden. It's not trying to be a feature. It's trying to blend in.

§ 04 · Seating Layout

Six seats.
Three distinct positions.

Every seat in the Thunder Bay has been placed with the body in mind — where your armrests naturally fall, how deep you sit, and which muscle group meets which jet cluster. What makes this spa different is the pair of Captain's chairs facing each other across the well — the most sought-after seats in the range.

  • 01 / CAPTAIN'S CHAIRS
    Twin Captain's Chairs

Two sculpted Captain's seats with integrated armrests, placed to face each other across the main well. The armrests aren't decorative — they hold your shoulders out of the water at exactly the right height and stop you sliding down when the jets fire. Deep jet clusters target the upper back, shoulders and neck. Most households fight over these first.

  • 02 / NO-FLOAT LOUNGER
    No-Float Lounger

A full-body contoured lounger runs along one side of the tub — calves, thighs, lumbar, shoulders in one seat. The no-float moulding anchors you in the water when the jets fire, so a flat lounger's tendency to lift you out of your seat on full pump is designed out. Jet clusters fire along the spine and into the calves for the deepest, longest massage in the spa.

  • 03 / OPEN SEATS
    Three Open Seats

The remaining three seats wrap around the footwell at a sociable height — upright positions with targeted jet clusters for the lower back, hips and calves. Comfortable for guests, easy to talk across, and deep enough for a proper soak.

— A note on fit

The Thunder Bay seats six adults comfortably in a 219 × 219 cm footprint. Two taller frames can sit across from each other in the Captain's chairs at the same time — the integrated armrests and facing orientation make this the best-looking and most sociable six-seater we build. If you specifically want twin loungers instead of Captain's chairs, look at the Vancouver UV. Not sure? Book a showroom visit and sit in both.

"Mastered the chemicals · used daily ever since."

We bought our Canadian Spa Thunder Bay hot tub from our local Homebase at a very competitive price and were offered 3 years' interest-free credit. We chose the Thunder Bay over other similar priced models because of the layout and orientation, which perfectly suited our family and our preferred location in terms of sunshine, garden and night-sky view — but also because of the amazing features all included in the package: 5 full seats and 1 lounger, Balboa 3 kW heater and controls, 2 × 5HP pumps, 44 powerful jets, waterproof sound system with twin pop-up speakers, multi-function LED lights and an angled cover with a quality top-mounted cover lifter, to name just a few.

Canadian Spa hot tubs were recommended to us by family members who have enjoyed two slightly different models. We haven't been disappointed. Xavier at CS has been most helpful right from the start of our research process, and was always available to answer our numerous questions. Having made the purchase at Homebase, CS immediately took over the order and managed the delivery process. We used a local electrician to install the 32 A electrical supply and decided to lay a 6-inch reinforced concrete slab in our decking to avoid any risk of movement or noise vibration. We also took great pride in laying the slab to the exact size of the hot tub base, matching the curved corners. Whilst we were doing all this, CS held the hot tub at their warehouse until we were 100% ready.

On delivery day, having spoken to Tony about the access, we hoped everything would be relatively straightforward. In fact the two guys from 1st4HotTubs (Kenny & Ross) who deliver for CS to our part of the country were amazing and made it all look extremely easy. They took time to position the tub exactly where we wanted it, and having filled it to the required level, went through a detailed tutorial including using the chemicals, adjusting the temperature, cleaning the filters and getting the best from each of the jets. As this was our first hot tub purchase, we found this tutorial invaluable.

The same evening we enjoyed our first soak and have used it daily ever since, both during daytime hours and at night when the lights come into their own. The controls are simple and very easy to use. The cover can be easily lifted by one person. The speakers sound great and are plenty loud enough. We have mastered the chemicals now that we understand the pH of our local water and how it responds to each of the chemicals — happily it is much simpler than we first thought.

All in all, we would highly recommend Canadian Spa hot tubs. The only real decision is to choose which model suits your particular circumstances.

"Idiot's daily guide to keeping the balance right."

The spa has given us valuable family time and helped create some fantastic memories this summer. The customer service, advice and delivery were brilliant. The deluxe chemical kit has everything you need to keep you going and you only need to top up on the test strips.

Xavier answered all my emails promptly and honestly before and after buying the spa. I would highly recommend Canadian Spa — they still believe in customer service, and the actual Thunder Bay spa is amazing.

As this is our first spa I was concerned with the maintenance, however it is easy to look after (thanks to advice from Xavier and also the delivery guys, who helped me write an idiot's daily guide to adding chemicals to keep the balance right). Thank you all.

"My back has never felt so good."

From start to finish the Canadian Spa Company were extremely helpful and provided a top-quality service. Our salesperson made sure we bought the hot tub that suited our needs — we even arranged a test soak before we bought. I've been very impressed with the follow-up as well.

Xavier called us after installation to check everything went well, and he has even helped us with water chemical control as it can take a little while to get it right. The delivery of the tub again provided an excellent service — it was a tight fit, but the knowledge was invaluable.

As for the tub itself, we bought a Thunder Bay and it's AMAZING. My back has never felt so good. Perfect size for the whole family and fitted in nicely. It's well insulated so actually is quite quiet. Would definitely recommend.

"Brought in over the fence on ramps — in the snow."

I did lots of research from lots of different spa providers and when I weighed up the risks of buying from other providers and dissecting reviews, decided to buy from Canadian Spa. I shopped around and got a great deal from Homebase for a Thunder Bay hot tub, but as with all big purchases was apprehensive about both the fitting and the after-sales as you just never really know until it arrives.

The site for my tub was an absolute nightmare for the fitters, who drove down from Scotland to Newcastle to fit it (Matt is the man by the way). It had to be brought into my garden from a park, removing fence panels, up metal ramps, then reposition the ramps to haul it up onto my deck — which means I step out of my back doors and jump straight in. The fitters were absolutely fantastic and as the heavens opened and the SNOW — yes, snow! — poured from the heavens, they cracked on, filled it, commissioned it and did the induction. Class.

The spa is simple to use; when you get the hang of the chlorine etc., it's a breeze. I have my one hour every night (midweek) when the wife watches the soaps, and I listen to some music and plan things and concentrate on hating people — very relaxing. The same again at weekends. Great buy, and would definitely recommend Canadian Spa.

"Quiet when running — Eco mode for 2 hours holds it."

Just wanted to say thank you for the Thunder Bay spa. We have been using it a lot over the last few weeks since installation and it has been thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The spa is working very well and is also quiet when running and heating. We find that the Eco mode set for only 2 hours to come on in the morning and evening is normally enough to keep the spa at the right temperature. We have just had a new patio and added a new gazebo surround which does make an attractive view of the spa.

"Engineer found the motor vibrating against a pipe — fixed in minutes."

After researching which spa to purchase we decided on a Thunder Bay from Canadian Spa as it offered good value for money with many extras other spas didn't have. After a very prompt delivery we noticed that it seemed to be more noisy than we thought it should be.

We contacted the company who sent out an engineer within a few days. He found that the motor was vibrating against a pipe and repositioned it within a few minutes. The engineer was very helpful, polite and friendly, spending time explaining how to adjust the water clarity and any other queries we had.

Since the spa has been running correctly we have been enjoying many relaxing times. The quality, value for money and customer service is second to none.

"Made a stressful situation stress-free."

Loving the hot tub. Thanks so much to you and all members in your team. Please could you pass on my thanks to everyone, and would also like to say how impressed I am with the service and attitude of every person that works for Canadian Spa.

You made what could have been a very stressful situation stress-free. Both installation teams were fantastic and very nice guys — they all went beyond their duty and helped me move bits (which we should have done prior to their arrival) and put everything back for us.

I will be highly recommending you to anyone who is considering getting a spa. I wouldn't use another company now after the level of customer service you have given us.

"The jets work a treat on a bad leg."

I would just like to write about the wonderful service received from the Canadian Spa Company — from the very first phone call with Tony to the delivery of my hot tub and gazebo (with a choice of delivery days including weekends). It was all put together beautifully by a very professional team.

I have got to say it was money well spent. I suffer with a bad leg and the jets work a treat on it, giving it a nice massage. So whether you want to just relax in the hot tub or have friends over for a few drinks and a dip, it's a perfect extra to our lifestyle. Would definitely be recommending Canadian Spa to all my friends and family. From a very satisfied customer.

First of all a big thanks to your 2 guys who delivered the tub — they were first class, didn't complete until about 8.00 in the evening. Great commitment. Your company delivered within 24 hours of order to our local store, again first class.

I've got my electrician wiring Friday am, can't wait to try over the weekend. After watching the TV programme on tubs you can see the quality of a Canadian Spa. The G2 looked like a bit of large Tupperware.

"You saved my bacon — teenage daughter's birthday party rescued."

Firstly, thanks to Dave and Tony for so promptly dealing with my enquiry — left to the last minute as normal, with the threat of a ruined teenage daughter's birthday party. You saved my bacon there.

Purchase went as smooth as silk, no hidden extras, really pleased with competitive price for what I would describe as a superior quality product. The delivery team were first rate — phone call to advise of delivery time, another phone call when they were nearby. Spot-on lads who were helpful, and even though I had gone for delivery to site but not having it commissioned (as I felt capable of doing that), the delivery guys gave me some on-site tips.

The spa was up and running within an hour of being delivered, and got very well used over the next few days. Simple to operate and proving extremely popular with all the family and a few friends who seem to suddenly want to come round more. Top-notch service from a top-notch company. Also in looking at chemicals and filters, they seem very competitive on prices.

"My new favourite garden feature."

I recently purchased a Canadian Spa Thunder Bay hot tub from Homebase. I'd never considered one before, however my interest was piqued seeing one on display every time I visited my local DIY store. The Homebase staff were friendly enough during purchase but didn't possess sufficient product knowledge to offer assistance or advice prior to this regarding additional product features, installation requirements and ongoing maintenance.

The point of sale product sheet provided a good overview and I then contacted Canadian Spa direct. I found them to be very helpful with all my newbie questions and practical advice around pre-installation requirements, including installation of a concrete base and cable guidance for the electrician to set up the cabling prior to the hot tub delivery and installation. The actual installation went smoothly via Canadian Spa again with helpful friendly advice given to get up and running.

The installation took around 5 hours overall and once filled to the correct water level I was shown what chemicals to add and subsequently use to maintain the water quality. Setting the right water balance took a few goes to get this correct and I was advised to let this settle overnight. Ongoing it requires a mix of daily and weekly maintenance but once you've done this a few times it's relatively straightforward.

The following day I took my first relaxing plunge confirming it's now my new favourite garden feature.

§ 08 · Before You Buy

Questions worth asking.

Can I get the Thunder Bay in another colour?

We only ship one finish: a marbled white shell with a dark brown cabinet and brown cover, designed to sit naturally alongside rattan garden furniture. It's a deliberate decision — the white shell hides waterline calcium that you'd otherwise be wiping off a dark shell every week, and it carries the Aurora™ LED lighting far better at night.

A few of our other ranges (Patio Spas, London SE, Erie SE, Alberta and Kingston) ship with black covers — but the Thunder Bay is brown across the board.

What's included in delivery and how long will it take?

Free kerbside delivery to mainland UK — we bring the Thunder Bay to the kerbside at your delivery address. You'll need clear access for the lorry and enough people on-site to move it into position. The Scottish Highlands are quotable on request.

If you'd rather not move it yourself, we offer an Upgraded Back Garden Installation Service for +£799. Our team handles getting the spa from the kerb into its final position in your garden. Access is the main thing to think about — we'll confirm the route with you before the day.

Current lead times: allow 2–3 weeks for kerbside delivery and 3–4 weeks for the Back Garden Installation Service. These are the cautious estimates we're quoting right now — we're normally faster than this, and we'll always confirm a firm date with you once your order is in.

How do the filters work, and when do they need replacing?

Your Thunder Bay arrives with two 50 ft² Microban Glacier filters already installed and ready to go — 100 ft² of filtration in total. The filter media is infused with Microban, an antimicrobial agent that inhibits bacterial growth on the filter itself for the full life of the cartridge. Paired with the Mountain Pure™ UV + ozone sanitation, it means cleaner water with fewer chemicals.

Replacement schedule: we recommend replacing the filters every 4–6 months, or sooner if they look discoloured or worn.

A good trick: keep two sets of filters on rotation, so you can pop in a clean set while you soak and rinse the used set overnight.

Who is the Thunder Bay best suited to?

The Thunder Bay is our flagship six-seater for households who want the most sociable layout we build. The pair of Captain's chairs facing each other across the well — with integrated armrests that hold your shoulders out of the water — is the detail that sets it apart. Pair that with 44 jets, two independent 5HP pumps, Mountain Pure™ UV + ozone and a deep no-float lounger, and you've got room for six adults and serious hydrotherapy.

If you want twin loungers instead of Captain's chairs, look at the Vancouver UV. If you want a simpler, lower-cost six-seater with one lounger, the Winnipeg UV is the one. Unsure which to pick? Book a showroom visit and sit in all three.

Do I need an annual service to keep the warranty active?

No. Our 2-year parts and labour warranty runs from the date of delivery with no mandatory annual service. Some brands require a paid manufacturer service every year to keep cover active — miss one, warranty voided. We think that's a tax, not a condition.

That said: an annual service is still a good idea for the long-term health of any hot tub. It's a recommendation we'll happily make — it's just not tied to your cover.

What does the warranty actually cover?

Two separate layers, both included as standard:

2 years parts & labour — the shell structure, pump, heater, and control system. If something fails in normal use, we replace the part and fit it, anywhere in the UK.

10 years against water loss through the shell structure — structural protection for the core integrity of the acrylic body.

You can also extend the parts and labour cover by a further 2 years for £850 (this tier; £500 on Patio Spas, £1,200 on Swim Spas). The extension is stackable — buy it twice and you get four additional years — and can be purchased at any point while still under warranty.

What electrical supply do I need?

The Thunder Bay runs on 230 V and needs to be wired to a dedicated 32 A RCD breaker in your consumer unit, via an outside rotary isolator switch. Your electrician runs the cable (typically 6 mm armoured tri-core) from the RCD to the spa, and should leave roughly 5 m of slack outside the footprint of the spa so our installers can bring the armoured tail into the cabinet and connect it on delivery day. None of this kit — the breaker, the isolator, the cable, or the cable gland — is supplied with the spa or brought by our installers; we connect using the tail your electrician leaves. It's a short, straightforward job for any competent spark, but please have them lined up and the cable run ahead of delivery. Electrical connection itself sits outside our delivery and installation service.

How much does the Thunder Bay cost to run?

Running costs depend on your energy tariff, how often you use the spa, and your discipline with the cover. Thanks to the ThermalSprings™ heat reclamation system, triple-layer insulation with infra-red reflection, and the winter-rated hardtop cover, the Thunder Bay is one of the more energy-efficient six-seaters on the market — several owners have specifically called out how efficient and quiet it runs.

Most UK owners report monthly running costs in the region of £60–£75 a month across the year, working out to roughly £2–£2.50 a day. Pairing the spa with our optional Balboa Clim8zone II heat pump typically reduces that further. Speak to the team on 01293 824 094 and we'll model your specific setup.

Is it actually usable all year round?

Yes. The Thunder Bay is built for year-round outdoor use — acrylic shell, triple-layer insulation, and a heat-trapping winter-rated hardtop cover with locking straps. Many owners say a soak on a cold, clear night is the single best argument for owning one.

What's included in the price?

As standard you get the hardtop locking insulating cover, the Aurora™ LED lighting system, the Bluetooth audio system, the two installed Microban Glacier filters, the aromatherapy canister, all manuals, and free kerbside delivery to mainland UK. Add the installation package and we also include a top-mount cover lifter, a black plastic step, and a chemical starter kit — these three can also be purchased separately if you don't want the install. What we don't supply is any of the electrical kit — the 32 A RCD breaker, outside rotary isolator, armoured cable, and cable gland all sit outside our scope and are fitted by your qualified electrician ahead of delivery day.

Can I see it in person?

Yes — please do. Our showroom is at Canada House, Unit 1, Salbrook Road, Redhill, Surrey · RH1 5GL. Ten minutes from Gatwick. Open Monday to Friday 9am–6pm and weekends 10am–4pm. No appointment needed, but booking means we'll try to have the Thunder Bay available to view for you when you arrive.
