Why a Rolling Swim Spa Cover Is the Smart Upgrade for Your Spa
Troy LabelleOwning a swim spa should be about relaxation, fitness, and enjoyment — not struggling with a heavy or awkward cover. A rolling swim spa cover is a modern solution designed to make daily use easier while improving energy efficiency, safety, and long-term durability.
At Canadian Spa Company, our rolling covers are engineered to enhance the swim spa experience by combining lightweight design, advanced insulation, and all-season protection.
Easy One-Person Operation
Traditional swim spa covers are often heavy and difficult to manage. A rolling swim spa cover eliminates this issue, allowing one person to open or close the spa in under a minute.
The cover rolls smoothly from either end of the swim spa, offering flexible installation options. Integrated air-release eyelets prevent trapped air, ensuring smooth, effortless operation every time.
Lightweight Design Without Compromising Strength
Built using composite fibreglass support tubes, the rolling swim spa cover is significantly lighter than traditional rigid covers. Despite its reduced weight, the internal structure maintains strength and stability across the full length of the spa.
This design prevents sagging, supports long-term use, and makes the cover easy to handle for daily opening and closing.
High-Performance Insulation and Heat Retention
At the core of the cover is high-density XPE foam, a waterproof and chemical-resistant insulation material. Its multi-layer construction with internal air pockets reflects heat back into the water, improving swim spa heat retention.
By reducing heat loss, a rolling swim spa cover helps lower heater run time and reduces overall energy consumption, making it a smart investment for long-term running cost savings.
All-Season Swim Spa Protection
Designed for year-round outdoor use, the rolling cover features a UV-protected Oxford polyester exterior. A slightly domed profile allows rain and snow to run off naturally, preventing water pooling and excess weight.
Double-stitched seams provide added durability, ensuring reliable protection against wind, rain, snow, and sun exposure in all climates.
Durable Construction for Long-Term Performance
Unlike traditional foam covers that can absorb water and become heavy over time, the rolling swim spa cover is built with water-resistant and corrosion-proof materials.
Reinforced stitching, heavy-duty handles, and fibreglass internal supports help maintain performance, appearance, and ease of use for years, reducing the need for frequent replacement.
Improved Safety and Peace of Mind
Integrated lockable safety straps allow the cover to be securely fastened to the swim spa cabinet. This helps prevent unauthorised access, offering added safety for households with children or pets, while also keeping the cover secure during strong winds.
A Smarter, More Efficient Swim Spa Cover
A rolling swim spa cover offers a practical upgrade over traditional covers by combining ease of use, energy efficiency, and durable all-season protection.
With reduced effort, improved insulation, and enhanced safety, it’s a smart way to protect your investment and enjoy your swim spa more often.
How a rolling cover works
- Release the locking safety straps along the sides.
- Start at one end and roll the cover along the spa. It can be rolled from either end.
- Leave the rolled cover at the end of the spa while you use it.
- To close, unroll it back along the spa and refasten the straps.
Air-release eyelets let trapped air escape, so the cover sits flat. One person can open it in under a minute.

Why heat loss matters on a swim spa
A swim spa holds far more water than a hot tub. The St Lawrence 16 holds about 6,475 litres. Raising that by just 1°C takes about 7.5 kWh, or about £1.98 at the October to December 2026 Ofgem cap rate of 26.32p per kWh. Every degree a good cover saves overnight is money kept. Keeping the cover closed whenever the spa is not in use is the single biggest saving. For the rest of the cold-weather routine, see our guide to looking after your swim spa through a UK winter.
Safety
- Always refasten and lock the safety straps after use.
- Never let anyone stand, sit or lie on the cover.
- Don't leave the cover partly open with children nearby.
- Check straps and buckles every month and replace any that are worn.
