The Alberta SE

The luxury six-person with a full-length lounger and two corner Captain's chairs — the Kingston-size chassis (240 × 216 × 93 cm) rearranged for deep hydrotherapy rather than a seventh seat. 57 adjustable stainless-steel hydrotherapy jets on our WhiteWater™ Jet Delivery System, driven by two independent 5 HP pumps, four air-venturi valves, Balboa digital controls with Aqua AI, and 2 × 50 ft² Microban filtration. Built for households who want the pampering, not an extra perch.

White marbled shell · dark brown cabinet · black cover

One finish, chosen deliberately. The marbled white shell hides calcium waterline so you're not wiping the tub down every week. The dark brown cabinet sits naturally alongside rattan garden furniture, and the hardtop cover is winter-rated black. Read the reasoning →

Delivery
Flatbed · HIAB/crane lift required

— At 240 × 216 cm and 1,650 kg filled, the Alberta SE needs a HIAB or crane lift onto your base, arranged by you in either option. Free kerbside is a third-party pallet company on an all-day delivery slot — your HIAB operator usually has to charge their full day rate to wait through that window. With Back Garden Install at +£799 we're flexible on our delivery date and time: ring round local HIAB/crane firms, find out when they're next in your area for another job (e.g. "Wed, Thurs or Fri at 2pm in three weeks"), and we'll sync our delivery to that slot. The lift becomes a back-load — pure profit for the operator — which usually drops their quote significantly. Once the spa is on the base we fit the cover lifter, start the fill, walk you through the chemicals, and make a temporary electrical connection so you can test it (your electrician returns to sign off before use). See the delivery FAQ for full details.

§ 01 · THE KINGSTON SE

Built around
groups.

The Alberta SE and the Kingston SE share a chassis — same 240 × 216 × 93 cm large rectangular shell, same WhiteWater™ Jet Delivery System, same two 5 HP pumps, same Balboa heater, same 2 × 50 ft² filters. What's different is how the seating is laid out inside that chassis. The Kingston puts seven adults around all four walls: rectangular perimeter, four corner seats and three bench seats. The Alberta rearranges that same footprint around a full-length lounger and two corner Captain's chairs — seating six rather than seven, trading that seventh perch for deeper hydrotherapy in the seats that remain.

This is the spa we build for households whose answer to "what do we want out of a hot tub?" starts with "a proper lounger, a Captain's chair each for the two of us, and enough room for the kids and a couple of friends on the bench". 57 adjustable stainless-steel jets on our WhiteWater™ Jet Delivery System, fed by two independent 5 HP pumps, four air-venturi valves for per-person pressure control, and the same Balboa 3 kW heater with Aqua AI smart sensors that shut the element off within half a degree of your target. Four LED-backlit cascading waterfalls, Aurora™ Premium LED lighting, Bluetooth audio and an integrated aromatherapy canister.

Water care is where the Alberta — like the Kingston — steps ahead of every tub below it in the range: 2 × 50 ft² Microban Glacier filters (100 ft² total — double the filter area of the London SE and Erie SE) paired with the Mountain Pure™ UV-C lamp + built-in ozone generator. ThermalSprings™ heat reclamation captures pump waste heat into the water, Blackout Insulation triple-layers the shell, cabinet and base, and a 5″→3″ tapered winter-rated hardtop cover keeps the heat in when you're not in it. Built for British seasons, British gardens, British families — with a lounger long enough to properly lie in.

§ 02 · Engineered In Detail

Every feature earning its place.

The Alberta SE is our large six-person lounger tub — same Kingston-size chassis, different seating layout. WhiteWater™ jet delivery, twin 5 HP pumps, Mountain Pure™ UV + ozone, Aqua AI, two corner Captain's chairs and a full-length lounger in a 240 × 216 cm footprint.

01 · HYDROTHERAPY
57jets
WhiteWater™ · 2 × 5 HP

57 adjustable stainless-steel hydro-massage jets on our WhiteWater™ Jet Delivery System, fed by two independent 5 HP pumps. Oversized 2.5″ pipework inside the shell keeps pressure drop to a minimum between pump and jet, and four air-venturi valves on the topside let each person dial their own air injection. A dedicated array along the lounger spine plus hydrotherapy-dense clusters in the two Captain's chairs — more soak per seat than the tubs below it in the range.

02 · SANITATION
UV+O₃
Mountain Pure™ — UV + Ozone

The Mountain Pure™ sanitation system combines a UV-C lamp with a built-in ozone generator. UV-C disrupts bacteria and viruses at the cell level as water flows past the lamp; ozone oxidises organic contaminants (sweat, sunscreen, cosmetics) before they reach the filter. Between the two, far less of your weekly chemistry job is on chlorine — the water stays clearer and the cartridges stay cleaner for longer.

03 · FILTRATION
100ft²
2 × 50 ft² Microban Glacier

The Alberta SE ships with 100 ft² of filtration — two 50 ft² Microban Glacier cartridges installed, double the filter area of the London SE and Erie SE. More filter area means the tub cycles the whole 1,300 L of water more times per day, and the cartridges last longer between changes. Microban-infused media inhibits bacterial growth on the filter itself for the life of the cartridge.

04 · LIGHTING
colours
Aurora™ LED System

Full multi-zone control: perimeter waterline lights, large underwater LEDs, and an LED-backlit cascading waterfall. Shift the mood from soak to swim to sleep with the touch of a button.

05 · HEAT RETENTION
3kW
Balboa Smart Heating

3kW Balboa heater with smart sensors — shuts off within half a degree of your target. Triple-layer insulation with infra-red reflection and thermal transfer blocks on shell, cabinet and base.

06 · CONTROLS
BP
Balboa BP Controls

An extra-large overlay pad adjusts jets, pumps and temperature with a single touch. Reliable, responsive, and easy to use wet-handed — the control system trusted across the spa industry for decades.

07 · AUDIO
2×
Bluetooth Speakers

Two slow-rise waterproof retractable speakers with built-in high-fidelity amplifiers deliver clear acoustics at volume — pair your phone from anywhere in the garden.

08 · ENERGY
72hr
ThermalSprings™

Our Heat Reclamation System prevents heat loss and recycles sanitised water. High-density closed-cell foam in the shell captures motor waste heat — warming the water, not the outside air.

§ 03 · The Finish

Why we only
do one colour.

Most hot tub brands offer four or five shell colours. We offer one — a white shell with an understated marbling through it, paired with a dark brown cabinet and a winter-rated black hardtop cover. It isn't a compromise. It's the answer we arrived at after years of watching owners live with their spas.

01

No weekly wipe-down.

Calcium builds up at the waterline on every hot tub — that's just hot water chemistry. On dark shells, you see it. You end up wiping the tub down on a regular basis to keep it looking respectable. On our marbled white, the calcium is still there, but it disappears into the finish. Most people buy a hot tub to take away their stress, not to give themselves a part-time job wiping it down. That's the main reason we landed on white.

02

The lighting comes alive at night.

The Aurora™ LED package — perimeter lights, large underwater LEDs, and the LED-backlit cascading waterfall — was designed to wash colour across the shell. A white marbled interior picks up and carries every hue. On a dark shell, the lights just sit there. On this one, they paint the whole tub.

03

Built to sit with garden furniture.

The dark brown cabinet is designed to sit naturally alongside rattan — the most common garden furniture choice in a British back garden. It's not trying to be a feature; it's trying to blend in. The hardtop cover is a separate piece in winter-rated black — it's what's on top when the spa isn't in use, so keeping it understated matters more than matching it to the cabinet.

— A note on the range: Patio Spas, London SE, Erie SE, Alberta and Alberta SE all ship with black covers. The Niagara flagship is the one with a brown cover.

§ 04 · Seating Layout

Six seats.
Two Captain's + lounger.

Six ergonomically contoured positions arranged around a 240 × 216 cm footprint: two corner Captain's chairs, a full-length lounger down one long side, and three perimeter seats across the rest. The layout that happens when you take the Kingston chassis and ask it to do deeper hydrotherapy rather than fit one more person.

  • 01 / CAPTAIN'S CHAIRS · ×2
    Corner Captain's Positions

Two deep corner Captain's chairs — the most hydrotherapy-dense positions in the tub. Each has a dedicated jet cluster pattern tracking the spine: neck and shoulder jets at bench-top level, a lumbar pair at mid-back, hip jets at the seat edge, and calf/sole jets at the footwell. Ergonomically contoured to the geometry of a seated body pressed into the corner. The seats most guests gravitate to first, and the ones that handle sore backs and stiff shoulders best.

  • 02 / FULL-LENGTH LOUNGER
    Horizontal Recline Position

A full-length lounger running down one long side — calves, thighs, lower back, shoulders and head all supported in line, with jet clusters fired at the spine's full length (neck, mid-back, lumbar, and a pair of powerful calf jets at the far end). The 240 cm length gives serious room to properly stretch out — a real difference from shorter loungers on smaller chassis. The seat you'll close the evening on.

  • 03 / 57 JET CLUSTERS
57 Stainless Jets · Targeted Per Seat

Fifty-seven adjustable stainless-steel jets — not plastic — split across the six positions. Neck and shoulder clusters at bench-top level, lumbar clusters at mid-back, calf and sole clusters at the footwell, and a dedicated array along the lounger spine. Four air-venturi valves at the rim let each seat group dial its own air injection, so you can run the Captain's hard while the bench stays gentle for the kids.

— A note on fit

The Alberta SE comfortably seats six adults in a 240 × 216 cm footprint — Kingston-size chassis, different seating. The full-length lounger fits frames up to around 6'4" in proper line. Step sideways to the Kingston SE if you'd rather seat seven adults around the perimeter than have two Captain's chairs and a lounger. Step up to the Niagara flagship (228 × 228 square, 60 jets, 12-jet Captain's, diverter valves, heated air blower) for the absolute top of the range. Step down to the Erie SE (luxury 6-person square with no-float lounger) or the London SE (value 6-person square with lounger) — both 213 × 213 cm. Not sure? Book a showroom visit — ten minutes from Gatwick — and sit in all of them.

"Our 3rd Hot Tub From Canadian Spa — Always Upgrading"

This is our 3rd hot tub from Canadian Spa, always upgrading. Each time we have been more than satisfied with the service and easy arrangements for delivery, which is always on time.

Canadian Spa are so helpful and I have to personally thank Xavier, who drove to our house to give advice over the chemicals — which is simple once explained.

The tub is money well spent as it really eases aches and pains. Loving our new Alberta.

"HIAB Fully Extended, Tub On Chains · And A Service Callout That Went Above And Beyond"

We are delighted with the Alberta, as are my brother and family already, and it is already clear to us that we are going to use it very happily come rain, snow or shine. It was touch-and-go for getting it in — HIAB fully extended and needing the tub pulled on its chains to reach into the back garden — but we made it and it has been a great decision.

Xavier has been great throughout the lengthy purchase period and Tony was absolutely outstanding on Friday in his calm effectiveness and with nothing being a problem to him. He is a huge asset for the company and I cannot thank or praise him enough. So Canadian Spa has definitely lived up to all of the customer testimonials we unearthed before deciding to go with you — and, now knowing first-hand why you have received them, we are delighted that we chose you guys.

— Update · a service callout that went above and beyond

I emptied our Alberta SE on Friday evening and cleaned the tub ahead of friends coming the next day. Unfortunately, I suffered an air-lock in one of the pumps' pipework and couldn't for the life of me clear it. It was nearly 7 pm when I dropped Tony (who had installed it originally) a text — not to ask him to come but to log it with him in case that was what you'd tell me to do anyway when you opened on the Monday.

Despite the hour and it being the end of the week, Tony texted and called me to try and address the issue that evening and, when that did not work out, arrived at the house on the Saturday afternoon to sort things out. He wasn't on call and wasn't working, but he sorted it out in the time it took me to make him a coffee — and we had a fully operational tub once again by the time our friends arrived.

Above and beyond, and absolutely reflective of the exemplary service we enjoyed when first Tony installed it for us and indeed Xavier provides through the sales and after-sales touch-points. Great blokes, great service, great response and great tub. Your team continue to do you proud.

"Right Through Winter · Watching The Aircraft Go Over"

We have had the spa installed since the end of August 2017 and I thought you might like to know that we have used the spa continuously throughout the winter and we are looking forward to enjoying it as we move into summer.

I have particularly enjoyed getting in the spa on the cold winter mornings, just relaxing as my aches and pains disappear whilst watching the aircraft passing above from both Heathrow and Gatwick.

For me the big advantages you have over other manufacturers are the design of the Alberta, the lounger section, and — for me — the power output of the pumps. Some we looked at were only 60% of the 5 HP pumps fitted to our Alberta SE.

Paul Aug 2017 install · year-round use
§ 08 · Before You Buy

Questions worth asking.

Can I get the Alberta SE in another colour?

We only ship one finish: a marbled white shell with a dark brown cabinet and a winter-rated black hardtop cover. It's a deliberate decision — the white shell hides waterline calcium that you'd otherwise be wiping off a dark shell every week, and it carries the Aurora™ LED lighting far better at night. The dark brown cabinet sits naturally alongside rattan garden furniture.

How is the Alberta SE delivered? (please read — HIAB/crane required)

Because of its size and weight (240 × 216 × 93 cm · 350 kg dry / 1,650 kg filled), the Alberta SE always ships on a flatbed truck and needs a HIAB or crane to lift it from the back of the lorry onto your base. You arrange the HIAB or crane locally yourself in either option — we don't book the lift, because a local operator near you will nearly always be cheaper than one we'd book from our end. Typical costs: HIAB £200–£400, crane £500–£1,500. Get a few quotes — they'll usually do a free site survey or check your property on Google Maps. The spa is a big lump but it doesn't weigh much compared to a pallet of slate, so the lift itself is normally about 45 minutes on site and they're gone.

Where the two options differ is how flexible the delivery timing is, and that flexibility is what controls the cost of your HIAB:

Option 1 — Free kerbside delivery. A third-party pallet company brings the spa to your kerb on an all-day delivery slot. The challenge: HIAB/crane operators charge by time — without a fixed delivery window, your operator typically has to quote their full day rate to wait through it. Workable if you have a flexible operator happy to sit on standby, but you're not in control of the timing.

Option 2 — Back Garden Installation Service · +£799. We bring the spa to you on our own truck, and we're flexible on the date and timeslot. The play: ring round HIAB/crane firms in your area and ask when they're next on a job nearby — the same size or bigger — that they could piggy-back yours onto. Something like "Wednesday, Thursday or Friday at 2pm in three weeks". We'll sync our delivery to that window. Because the operator is already in the area for another paid job, your lift is a back-load — pure profit for them — which usually brings the quote down significantly versus a dedicated trip out. We arrive 30 minutes before the HIAB so we're on site to receive it. Once your HIAB has lifted the spa onto the base, we:

  • Position the spa on its base
  • Fit the cover lifter
  • Start the fill
  • Walk you through the chemicals and how to use the spa
  • Make a temporary electrical connection (provided your electrician has left the cable in place) so we can test everything is working before we leave

Your electrician then returns to make the permanent connection and sign it off before first use. Lead time for the install option is 3–4 weeks.

Which to choose? If you've already got a HIAB operator you trust who'll work with an all-day pallet window, the kerbside option is the cheapest headline price. For most customers — particularly first-time spa buyers — the +£799 install is the smoother experience: our delivery flexes to a back-load slot your HIAB can quote cheaply, one team on site for the handover, and the spa is filling and tested by the time we leave. Any questions, ring 01293 824 094 — we talk people through this every day.

What base does it need to sit on?

The Alberta SE needs a 3″ or 4″ thick concrete pad that covers the footprint of the spa — 240 × 216 cm minimum. The base doesn't need to extend beyond the spa itself, though most people find it useful to run it a little wider for a step and chemistry caddy. The pad must be flat and level: the weight of the filled tub (roughly 1,650 kg) unforgivingly finds any unevenness.

Reinforced concrete is standard. Some owners use a large paving-slab base, provided it's on a compacted hardcore subbase and properly level; speak to us if you want to run through your plan before ordering.

How do the filters work, and when do they need replacing?

Your Alberta SE arrives with two 50 ft² Microban Glacier filters already installed and ready to go — 100 ft² of filtration in total. The filter media is infused with Microban, an antimicrobial agent that inhibits bacterial growth on the filter itself for the full life of the cartridge. Paired with the built-in ozone generator, it means cleaner water with fewer chemicals.

Replacement schedule: we recommend replacing the filters every 4–6 months, or sooner if they look discoloured or worn.

A good trick: keep two sets of filters on rotation, so you can pop in a clean set while you soak and rinse the used set overnight.

Who is the Alberta SE best suited to?

Households who want a luxury large-chassis six-person with a proper lounger and two Captain's chairs. The Alberta SE is for buyers whose priority is quality of soak, not maximum headcount — the 240 cm lounger is long enough to really stretch out in, and the two corner Captain's chairs are hydrotherapy-dense for daily back-and-shoulder work. Sized for a household of four to six who use the spa most evenings, with 2 × 50 ft² filters (double the filter area of the London SE and Erie SE) to handle that usage cleanly.

Step sideways: if you'd rather seat seven adults on the same 240 × 216 cm chassis — and don't need the lounger or the Captain's chairs — the Kingston SE is the same spa with a seven-seat perimeter layout (and a slightly lower price since it drops two jets).

Step up: if you want the absolute top of our range — 60 jets, a 12-jet corner Captain's chair, diverter valves and a heated air blower in a 228 × 228 cm square at 99 cm depth — the Niagara flagship is the one.

Step down: if a smaller footprint fits better — the Erie SE is our luxury six-person square (213 × 213 cm) with a no-float lounger, and the London SE is the value-tier six-person square with a full-length lounger. Unsure? Book a showroom visit — ten minutes from Gatwick — and sit in all of them.

Do I need an annual service to keep the warranty active?

No. Our 2-year parts and labour warranty runs from the date of delivery with no mandatory annual service. Some brands require a paid manufacturer service every year to keep cover active — miss one, warranty voided. We think that's a tax, not a condition.

That said: an annual service is still a good idea for the long-term health of any hot tub. It's a recommendation we'll happily make — it's just not tied to your cover.

What does the warranty actually cover?

Two separate layers, both included as standard:

2 years parts & labour — the shell structure, pump, heater, and control system. If something fails in normal use, we replace the part and fit it, anywhere in the UK.

10 years against water loss through the shell structure — structural protection for the core integrity of the acrylic body.

You can also extend the parts and labour cover by a further 2 years for £850 (this tier; £500 on Patio Spas, £1,200 on Swim Spas). The extension is stackable — buy it twice and you get four additional years — and can be purchased at any point while still under warranty.

What electrical supply do I need?

The Alberta SE runs on 230 V and needs to be wired to a dedicated 32 A RCD breaker in your consumer unit, via an outside rotary isolator switch. Your electrician runs the cable (typically 6 mm armoured tri-core) from the RCD to the spa, and should leave roughly 5 m of slack outside the footprint of the spa so our installers can bring the armoured tail into the cabinet and connect it on delivery day. None of this kit — the breaker, the isolator, the cable, or the cable gland — is supplied with the spa or brought by our installers; we connect using the tail your electrician leaves. It's a short, straightforward job for any competent spark, but please have them lined up and the cable run ahead of delivery. Electrical connection itself sits outside our delivery and installation service.

How much does the Alberta SE cost to run?

Running costs depend on your energy tariff, how often you use the spa, and your discipline with the cover. Thanks to the ThermalSprings™ heat reclamation system, Blackout Insulation (triple-layer with IR reflection), and the 5″→3″ tapered winter-rated hardtop cover, the Alberta SE runs more efficiently than its 1,300 L water volume might suggest — several owners have specifically called out how efficient and quiet it is.

Most UK owners report monthly running costs in the region of £60–£75 a month across the year, working out to roughly £2–£2.50 a day. Pairing the spa with our optional Balboa Clim8zone II heat pump typically reduces that further. Speak to the team on 01293 824 094 and we'll model your specific setup.

Is it actually usable all year round?

Yes. The Alberta SE is built for year-round outdoor use — acrylic shell, triple-layer insulation, and a heat-trapping winter-rated hardtop cover with locking straps. Many owners say a soak on a cold, clear night is the single best argument for owning one.

What's included in the price?

As standard you get the hardtop locking insulating cover, the Aurora™ Premium LED lighting system, the Bluetooth audio system, the two installed Microban Glacier filters, the built-in ozone generator, the aromatherapy canister, all manuals, and free flatbed delivery to mainland UK. The top-mount cover lifter, step and chemical starter kit are available as add-ons. What we don't supply is the HIAB/crane lift (always arranged locally — see the delivery FAQ) or the electrical kit — the 32 A RCD breaker, outside rotary isolator, armoured cable, and cable gland all sit outside our scope and are fitted by your qualified electrician ahead of delivery day.

Can I see it in person?

Yes — please do. Our showroom is at Canada House, Unit 1, Salbrook Road, Redhill, Surrey · RH1 5GL. Ten minutes from Gatwick. Open Monday to Friday 9am–6pm and weekends 10am–4pm. No appointment needed, but booking means we'll try to have the Alberta SE available to view for you when you arrive.
