Delivering a swim spa

Xavier Labelle

A Canadian Spa Company Swim Spa is a very large spa that has a few requirements that need to be met before the purchase. Unlike our Canadian Spa Company Hot Tubs which can weigh between 249kg to 463kg without water, a swim spa can weigh from about 850 kg to 1,630 kg dry, depending on the model, ! This means that once it has been delivered, a crane company will be required to properly move the spa to its location. It is the responsibility of the customer
or his agents (be it the crane company or lift operator) to assess the lift and
control all aspects of moving the spa. The Canadian Spa Company will not take
responsibility for any part of the moving of the spa, and cannot advise on the
methods used to move the spa.

When determining a suitable location for the spa, proper support and access must be taken into consideration. The entire base must be a flat level surface that comes in
contact with every part of the spa and must support the filled weight, which is 7,835 kg for the St Lawrence 16.
Access to each of the panels should be provided to ensure that your spa is
covered under warranty in case of a fault.

Installing the swim spa will require a dedicated 50A supply with RCD protection (for our St Lawrence 16 swim spa) and a qualified electrician to properly install. Ensure that the electrician follows all local building/electrical codes and that they provide you with a certificate of verification. Failure to properly install the required power will void the Manufacturer’s Warranty!

Access and crane requirements

  • Swim spas arrive on a flatbed, and a HIAB or crane lift is required. Call us to arrange delivery.
  • Delivery to mainland UK is typically 3 to 5 weeks on stocked models.
  • You arrange the lift. The crane or lift company should survey the site, plan the lift and take responsibility for it.
  • Check for overhead cables, trees and buildings between the road and the base.
  • Make sure the lorry and crane can park safely close enough. Ask the lift company whether a road closure or permit is needed.

Preparing the base

Our product pages specify a 6-inch (about 150 mm) reinforced concrete pad, or a patio of equal strength, that is flat and level and supports the whole underside of the swim spa. Minimum footprints given are:

Model Minimum base
13ft 4.0 x 2.3 m
16ft 6.0 x 2.35 m

Leave clear access to every cabinet panel for servicing, as this is needed for warranty work.

Frequently asked questions

Can a swim spa go through the house?

No. At over 2 metres wide and up to 6 metres long, it has to be lifted.

Can I use a 13A plug?

No. Our swim spas are hardwired on a dedicated supply.

How long does it take to fill and heat?

Filling several thousand litres from a hose takes many hours. Heating is gradual too, so allow a few days before the first swim.
