Canadian-designed hot tubs

Hot tubs engineered for the harshest Canadian winters.

Your garden, 38°C, any night of the year. We’ve spent forty years engineering hot tubs for Canadian winters, so a British one is easy — insulation that keeps the heat in, whatever the forecast. Buy manufacturer-direct, and the Redhill team who help you choose are the same people who answer the phone afterwards.

Engineered for the cold nights — not just the warm ones

The real test of a hot tub isn't August. It's November, when the garden furniture goes away and the temperature drops. Here's how our acrylic hot tubs are built to hold heat and run efficiently exactly when you want them most.

  • 5" tapered insulating cover

Lift the cover on a February evening and the water has barely lost a degree. On our acrylic range that's a 5" tapering to 3" insulating cover — thicker than the industry standard 4" to 2" — with a continuous heat seal under the fold so steam can't escape through the hinge, and a taper that sheds rain and snow on the coldest nights. (Our entry-level patio spas use a 3" to 2" cover.)

  • Infrared heat-reflection panels

The heat you've paid for stays yours. Every cabinet and base panel on our acrylic spas is lined with infrared-reflective material — the same idea as the foil blanket a marathon runner wraps up in — so waste heat bounces back into the cabinet, and the air jets draw from that warm cavity instead of cold outdoor air.

  • Closed-cell foam insulation

While you're asleep, your spa is barely working. High-density, honeycomb-structure foam in the cabinet and shell forces heat to change direction through trapped air pockets, slowing the escape of energy through the spa walls.

  • Balboa precision control

Ready the moment you are — 38°C on a Tuesday night without giving it a thought. The industry-leading Balboa processor and heater hold your set temperature to within 0.5°C, then rest. Engineered to run year-round — not just in summer.

About Hot Tubs

Most of what makes a hot tub last in a UK winter is invisible until you see the spec sheet. The cover is the single biggest lever — heat rises, so a 5″→3″ tapered cover holds heat where a 4″→2″ competitor doesn’t. Inside the cabinet, silver-foil reflection panels recycle waste motor heat back into the cavity rather than venting it, so turning the air injection on doesn’t rapidly cool the water (an issue some spas have when they pull cold air from outside). Plumbing runs 2.5″ throughout with no bend over 45°, where narrower diameters can choke under load.

Running cost on a properly insulated full-size hot tub in the UK comes in at £2–£2.50 a day (~£60–£75/month). Most of our acrylic models sit on an existing patio or a 3–4″ concrete pad — no laser-levelling, no reinforcing, and the shell tolerates around 2″ of variation over its length. Compare 4-seater compact formats against 6-seater family layouts, and the full spec lists, below.

The benefits

What owning a hot tub actually does for you

Britain doesn't get a Canadian winter — but it does get the kind of cold, still evenings when a hot tub earns its keep. Ours are engineered so the cold snap isn't the moment you switch yours off.

  • Eases aching muscles

Warm water and targeted hydrotherapy jets soothe tired muscles after training, long days on your feet or heavy work.

  • Supports joints and mobility

Buoyancy takes pressure off joints while the heat encourages easier movement — a daily habit that's kind to backs, knees and hips.

  • Wind down for better sleep

A 20-minute soak before bed is one of the simplest ways to slow down the nervous system and fall asleep faster.

  • Everyday stress relief

Warm water, a quiet evening and no screens — a hot tub makes switching off a ritual rather than a chore.

  • Promotes healthy circulation

Gentle heat and massage encourage blood flow, supporting recovery after exercise and long sedentary days.

  • Proper family time

Our hot tubs seat 2 to 7 people — phones away, conversation on. The best bit of most days for the families who own one.

Common questions

Hot tub FAQ

What electrics do I need?

Most of our hot tubs run from a dedicated 32A supply, hardwired to a weatherproof isolator switch within reach of the tub. A small number of plug-and-play models run from a standard 13A socket. Every product page tells you exactly which supply that model needs — and our team can talk you through it before you buy.

How much does a hot tub cost to run?

Honest answer: roughly £2 to £2.50 per day on average — about £60–£75 a month — for a typical household using the spa 3–4 times a week for 30–45 minute sessions at current UK electricity rates. You'll see lower numbers quoted elsewhere (40–60p a day) and they're technically achievable if you set the spa to 15°C and never use it — which isn't why anyone buys a hot tub. Our figure assumes you actually use it.

Where the cost comes from. The heater is the main driver. Pumps only run while you're in the spa (around 3 hours a week between sessions), so they're negligible. The most efficient way to run a hot tub is to set your target temperature (typically 38–40°C) and let the Balboa control maintain it within 0.5°C automatically, so the spa is ready on demand. Each session you'll typically lose 1–2°C from cover-off use; the heater reclaims that over an hour or two and the cover does the rest.

Initial heat-up from garden-hose temperature (around 9°C in winter) up to 39°C takes roughly an hour per degree and costs about £15–£20. That's a one-time cost on each fresh fill (every 3–4 months), not daily — but it has to be averaged into the day-to-day running cost.

Why our acrylic range runs efficiently: the 5" insulating cover, high-density closed-cell foam shell and cabinet, and infrared-reflective cabinet panels (engineered for Canadian winters) all keep heat in. Cover discipline is still the biggest day-to-day variable — leave the cover off after a session and that £2–£2.50 climbs fast. Our patio spa range uses simpler insulation and will run a little higher in the coldest months.

Can I install a hot tub indoors?

Yes, but indoor installations need proper ventilation to handle evaporation and humidity, plus a floor that can take the filled weight. We'd always recommend speaking to a builder or hot tub installer before committing to an indoor install.

What warranty do you offer?

Every hot tub ships with a UK-backed manufacturer warranty covering the shell, plumbing and key components. Specific terms vary by model — you'll find the full warranty breakdown on every product page.

How does delivery work?

Hot tubs are delivered kerbside on a pallet across UK mainland. You'll be given a delivery date and a 1-hour arrival window. You're responsible for getting the tub into final position — most customers use 2–3 strong helpers or a local hot tub installer. Let us know beforehand if access is tight.

What base does a hot tub need?

Less than you might think. A filled hot tub with people in it can weigh well over 2 tonnes, but that load spreads across the whole footprint — so most of our acrylic models sit happily on an existing patio or a 3–4" concrete pad. The base just needs to cover the spa's full footprint and be roughly level; the shell tolerates around 2" of variation over its length, so no laser-levelling. You don't need a reinforced slab either — it does no harm, but it's over-engineering. Grass, gravel and standard decking are not suitable; a purpose-built decking frame rated for the weight is fine.

How often do I change the water?

With proper chemistry (chlorine or bromine plus regular shock and pH checks), water in a domestic hot tub typically lasts 3–4 months before a full refresh. Our filters don't need a weekly rinse — a quick rinse tends to put some of what the filter has already caught straight back into the water. Instead, hose the filter properly clean as part of each water change. Every filter we supply is anti-microbial, and that protection stays active for around 6 months — swap the filter at 6 months to keep it running, or let it lapse and replace at 12 months to save money; the filter material itself works fine for a full year. One less weekly chore.

How do I choose the right size?

Think about two things: how many people will use it most of the time, and how much space you have outside. Most families end up with a 5–6 person tub — roomy enough for guests, small enough to heat efficiently. Our product pages list filled weight, footprint and seating so you can match the tub to your garden.

When buying a hot tub, think about three things first: size, running costs and intended use. A 4-person layout is often ideal for couples and smaller patios, while a 6 seater hot tub is better for families or regular guests. Running costs depend on insulation quality, cover fit, water care routine and how often you use your spa. Choosing a well-built Canadian Spa hot tub can help keep performance consistent over time.

Frequently asked

How much is a hot tub in the UK?

Prices vary by size and specification. Entry models are lower cost while larger premium hot tubs with more jets, higher-end controls and upgraded insulation cost more. Every product page shows the current price so you can compare hot tub prices clearly before you buy.

What affects hot tub cost the most?

Size, insulation quality, jet count, control system (Balboa is the industry standard) and cabinet build all influence cost. Investing a little more in build quality typically gets you a longer-lasting spa with fewer faults down the line.

What are the best hot tubs to buy for families?

Many UK families choose 5 to 6 person models for a balance of flexibility and comfort — roomy enough for guests, small enough to heat efficiently. A 6 seater hot tub is the most popular size we sell.

Can I buy cheap hot tubs UK stock without sacrificing quality?

Yes — if you focus on insulation, build quality and warranty support rather than just headline price. Our entry-level models are built with the same core components (Balboa controls, Lucite acrylic shells) as higher-spec tubs, just with fewer extras.

Are there hot tub deals UK customers can use year round?

Yes — selected seasonal promotions and model offers run through the year. Current discounts are shown against the price on each product page, so you can see exactly what you are saving before you check out.
